Speaking at a press event yesterday, Google CEO Eric Schmidt commented that the Google’s Chrome OS for netbooks and its Android smartphone OS, both of which are open source, may get a bit closer to each other in the future.
“Although it appears they are two separate projects, there’s a great deal of commonality. Eventually they may merge even closer.”
That’s far from saying that they will merge, by any stretch, but he’s leaving the door open. Considering that the Chrome OS is basically a web browser that uses web applications for services and doesn’t rely on local storage (according to Larry Page, at least), it doesn’t seem too likely to me that they would ever truly merge, though there seems to be room for some overlapping.

if either of them gain more share in market than other ,from a business point of view,its logical to merge both projects.
